The trust is especially keen to work with the women in the community. So we’ve supported the formation of a new group in the village.

0837-md-literacy“Getting the women’s group up and running was the most satisfying part of my visit this time …” says Marian “… they are really determined to achieve something through their small business, and that’s great.”

When the women in the village learn and get more income, their children and families benefit, as well as the women themselves.

The group of about 15 women asked us to help them start a fruit and vegetable business. We’ve made the group a loan and will be offering support and advice to help them get off the ground.

They are also meeting with local healthcare workers to get advice on issues such as HIV/AIDS and improving sanitation.
